Vaginal yeast infection is a common disease in women. This is not a difficult disease to handle, but if it is not resolved completely or improperly, it will become persistent, easy to recur, greatly affecting the psychology, life and reproductive health of women.
Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vagina, which manifests as discharge, itching, redness, and discomfort. It is caused by an imbalance in the yeast and bacteria that live in the vagina, most commonly a yeast infection with Candida albicans.
Candida albicans is a common fungus that will not cause disease in a healthy vaginal environment. However, when the vaginal environment is imbalanced in pH, the protective layer is broken, creating conditions for bacteria and fungi to grow and cause disease.
Causes of vaginal yeast
Candida albicans is a round or oval yeast, small in size, only about 2-5µm, usually living in the vagina, even in the mouth and human digestive system. Under normal conditions, this fungus is not harmful to the intimate area. But when the vagina is out of balance due to the following reasons, it will create conditions for Candida to overgrow and cause disease.
- Due to improper hygiene habits such as deep enema, using too much cleaning solution, causing an imbalance in vaginal pH.
- Habit of wearing tight clothes, especially wet underwear, do not sweat, do not change underwear often.
- Unsafe sex.
- The body's hormones change drastically during pregnancy.
- Prolonged stress, depression...
Vaginitis caused by yeast has a persistent nature, difficult to definitively treat, so it must be solved simultaneously for both husband and wife, because yeast will be transmitted back and forth during sexual intercourse.
The treatment of the disease also depends on the inflammation and location of each person, the solution is usually using fungicides (can be placed, oral, topical) in combination with appropriate hygiene products.
