Tobramycin is often clinically prescribed by doctors for bacterial infections that cause swelling, redness, inflammation, or burning pain in the eye area. How to use Philtobax eye drops
Patients should wash their hands and eyes before each tobramycin instillation. It is necessary to minimize bacterial infection, drug contamination, safety and effectiveness of the drug will be best maintained for about 15 days from the time the lid is opened. Therefore, patients should not take the drug that has been opened for more than 15 days, or when the drug has changes in color, taste or transparency.
It is necessary to replace it with a new vial if the opening date is past or the drug changes. Cover with a lid carefully after each use. Avoid drug abuse, even after the disease is cured, it is recommended to instill the drug for an additional 2 to 3 days to reduce antibiotic resistance of bacteria.
Dosage of the drug Tobramycin
- Usual dose: 1 drop in the eyes, twice daily for 7 days. Small in the morning and afternoon.
- If the disease is severe: on the first day put one or two drops into the sick eye every four hours. Then, put 1 drop in each eye twice a day, for 7 days.
- Elderly: in elderly patients dose adjustment is not required.
- Children: Tobramycin eye drops can be used in children 1 year of age and older at the same dose as adults.
In cases where the patient is undergoing concomitant treatment along with other eye drops, it should be used away from other eye drops for 5 to 10 minutes.
Contraindications of the drug
Tobramycin eye drops should not be used in patients with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to Tobramycin or any of the excipients in the drug.
Precautions when taking Tobramycin
- Do not share vials of eye drops with multiple people, do not touch the tip to avoid infection, and do not use it more than 15 days after the first opening.
- Tobramycin eye drops are given to children 1 year of age and older at the same dose as adults.
- For children under 1 year old: there is no safety information on the drug, only use this drug as directed by your doctor.
- Caution should be exercised when giving Tobramycin to pregnant women.
