Dosage and Administration:
For oral use.
A plastic measuring cup may be used to measure doses of less than 5 mL.
Adults
The usual dose is 4 mg of salbutamol (2 teaspoonfuls, equivalent to 10 mL of syrup) 3 to 4 times daily.
The dose may be increased up to a maximum of 8 mg (4 teaspoonfuls, equivalent to 20 mL of syrup) 3 to 4 times daily.
In elderly patients and other unusually sensitive patients, treatment should be initiated with 2 mg (1 teaspoonful, equivalent to 5 mL of syrup) 3 to 4 times daily.
Pediatric Patients:
- Children 2 to 6 years of age: The recommended starting dose is 1 mg of salbutamol (½ teaspoonful, equivalent to 2.5 mL of syrup) 3 times daily. The dose may be increased to 2 mg (1 teaspoonful, equivalent to 5 mL of syrup) 3 to 4 times daily.
- Children 6 to 12 years of age: The minimum recommended starting dose is 2 mg of salbutamol (1 teaspoonful, equivalent to 5 mL of syrup) 3 times daily. The dosing frequency may be increased to 4 times daily.
- Children over 12 years of age: The minimum recommended starting dose is 2 mg of salbutamol (1 teaspoonful, equivalent to 5 mL of syrup) 3 times daily. The dose may be increased to 4 mg (2 teaspoonfuls, equivalent to 10 mL of syrup) 3 to 4 times daily.
