What are the effects of Valsartan + hydrochlorothiazide?

Valsartan + hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat hypertension. Reducing high blood pressure helps prevent stroke, myocardial infarction and kidney problems. This drug has two active ingredients: Valsartan + hydrochlorothiazide. Valsartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) and works by dilating blood vessels, making it easier for blood to circulate. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic, which helps the body expel excess salts and water.

What side effects will you experience when taking Valsartan + hydrochlorothiazide?

Call an ambulance immediately if you have any signs of allergy such as: rash; shortness of breath; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

In rare cases, valsartan + hydrochlorothiazide can cause smorphism of musculoskeletal tissue, leading to renal failure. Call your doctor right away if you have muscle aches, pain, or weakness for no apparent reason, especially if you have fever, unusual fatigue, and dark urine.

Stop taking this medication and call your doctor right away if you have serious side effects such as:

- Eye pain, vision problems;

- Feeling of loss of consciousness;

- Urinating less than usual or not being able to urinate;

- Asthenia, increased thirst, loss of appetite, vomiting, heart palpitations or palpitations;

- Swelling, weight gain, feeling short of breath;

- Jaundice of the skin (or eyes);

- Dry mouth, increased thirst, drowsiness, feeling restless, confused, excessive urination, tachycardia, fainting or epilepsy (seizures).

Less serious side effects may include:

- Abdominal pain, diarrhea;

- Back pain;

- Headache, feeling of fatigue, dizziness;

- Skin rash;

- Nasal congestion, sore throat;

- Dry cough.

Do food and alcohol interact with Valsartan + hydrochlorothiazide?

Certain medications should not be taken with meals or at the same time as certain foods because interactions may occur. Alcohol and tobacco can also interact with certain medications. Consult your health professional about taking medications with food, alcohol and tobacco.

To whom are they contraindicated?

- Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, to other sulfonamide derivatives or any excipient component of the drug.

- Severe hepatic insufficiency, biliary cirrhosis, cholestasis.

- Women who are pregnant for more than 3 months.

- Severe renal impairment (GFR < 30ml/min), anuria.

- Hypokalemia, hyponatremia, hypercaclimia, and symptomatic hyperuricemia.

- Concomitant administration of Tronistat and products containing aliskiren for patients with diabetes mellitus or renal impairment (GFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m2)

Tronistat - film-coated tablet drug, consisting of 2 active ingredients Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide is indicated in case of treatment of idiopathic hypertension in adults. Used to replace valsartan or hydrochlorothiazide monotherapy when blood pressure is not adequately controlled.
